The Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee (NNPPC) began the new Rotary year with a historic moment of transition during its first Executive Committee meeting, held at the Polio House, Ikeja, Lagos.
In a symbolic handover, Past District Governor (PDG) Dr. Tunji Funsho, who served with exceptional dedication as Chairman, officially passed on the leadership baton to PDG Joshua Hassan.
This leadership transition marked not just a change in position, but a renewal of purpose and energy in Nigeria’s contribution to the global fight to end polio.
To honor his remarkable role, the EXCO presented an award of recognition to Dr. Funsho, celebrating his years of visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and historic contributions, including guiding the committee through Nigeria’s certification as polio-free in 2020.
As PDG Hassan assumes the Chairman’s role, members expressed their renewed commitment to strengthen field supervision, enhance partnerships, and drive forward the mission of a polio-free Nigeria and world.
The meeting was charged with optimism, collaboration, and a renewed pledge by members to keep Rotary’s promise: to end polio once and for all.
