In the fight to eradicate polio, frontline workers remain the unsung heroes braving challenges, building trust, and ensuring that every child is reached with life-saving vaccines. To celebrate their dedication, the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee (NNPPC) hosted the 2024 Katsina State Polio Field Workers Award Ceremony, a day of recognition and gratitude for those at the heart of this vital mission.

The event was led by NNPPC Chairman, Past District Governor Joshua Hassan, alongside Past Rotary International Vice President Yinka Babalola and NNPPC Northern Chairman, HRH Ndanusa Yunusa Yakubu (Sarkin Nupawa Katsina), who proudly presented awards to outstanding field workers and partners.

The awards recognized extraordinary contributions in diverse categories, including:

  • Vaccinators who go door-to-door to protect children.

  • Volunteer Community Mobilizers (VCMs) who foster trust and awareness within communities.

  • Workforce Providers (WFPs) who keep operations strong.

  • Religious and Traditional Leaders whose influence strengthens vaccine acceptance.

Special awards were also presented to outstanding leaders and partners, including:

  • The Chairman of Batagarawa LGA

  • The State Immunization Officer

  • The Incident Manager of the Polio Emergency Operations Centre

  • The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Agency (SPHCA)

This celebration was more than an award ceremony — it was a tribute to courage, resilience, and the collective spirit driving Nigeria toward a polio-free future. By recognizing these champions, Rotary and the NNPPC reaffirmed that every effort from the field to the leadership level  is vital in finishing the fight against polio.

Together, we honor the heroes. Together, we end polio.
