The District 9112 PolioPlus Seminar took center stage today at the Rotary Center, bringing together leaders and experts in the fight against polio. District Governor Olufemi Adenekan opened the event with brief but impactful remarks, emphasizing the critical importance of our ongoing efforts. Representing the NNPPC Chairman, PDG Yomi Adewumi spoke passionately about renewing Rotary’s commitment to a polio-free Nigeria.
Dr. Memuna Esan from the WHO delivered an insightful presentation on polio surveillance and operational updates, highlighting the innovative use of ODK for data collection in the field.
Ms. Opeyemi Shomope, ASIO for Lagos State, representing the State Government, provided valuable insights into the key steps for conducting successful polio supervision.
Mrs. Aderonke Akinola-Akinwole from UNICEF shared strategies on advocacy and social mobilization, stressing the importance of community involvement in eradicating polio.
The seminar was graced by notable attendees, including Chairman Emeritus Dr. Tunji Funsho, Past District Governor Remi Bello, PolioPlus Chairpersons from various clubs, Assistant District Governors, and dedicated Rotarians from across the district.
