The District 9111 Conference was not only a gathering of leaders and changemakers but also a powerful reminder of Rotary’s enduring mission to end polio once and for all.
During the event, the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee Chairman, Past District Governor (PDG) Joshua Hassan, delivered an inspiring update on the ongoing fight against polio. He emphasized the urgency of eradicating the disease and called on Rotarians to sustain their commitment through continuous support and donations.
PDG Hassan shared firsthand accounts of the challenges faced by frontline workers during vaccination exercises from navigating hard-to-reach communities to overcoming resistance and misinformation. These stories served as a reminder that every effort, big or small, contributes significantly to bringing the world closer to being polio-free.
A highlight of the conference was the celebration of outstanding clubs and individuals whose generosity has fueled polio eradication efforts.
The Rotary International President’s Representative, Eric Kimani, and his spouse, Margaret, presented awards to the top-giving clubs:
-
Rotary Club of Ota
-
Rotary Club of Omole Golden
-
Rotary Club of Ewutuntun
In addition, District Governor (9111) Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi was recognized as the top individual donor, a testament to his personal dedication to the cause.
These recognitions underscored Rotary’s culture of generosity and the power of collective action in transforming lives.
The District 9111 Conference reaffirmed Rotary’s steadfast commitment to creating a world where no child suffers from polio. By celebrating both progress and partnerships, Rotarians are reminded that the finish line is within reach.
Congratulations to all the champions honored and to every Rotarian whose support, service, and giving keep the dream of a polio-free world alive. Together, we are making history.
