{"id":2007,"date":"2017-07-12T14:38:25","date_gmt":"2017-07-12T14:38:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polioplusng.org\/en\/?page_id=2007"},"modified":"2020-11-07T10:15:57","modified_gmt":"2020-11-07T10:15:57","slug":"about-nnppc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/polioplus.org.ng\/en\/about-nnppc\/","title":{"rendered":"About NNPPC"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row bg_image=&#8221;5968&#8243;][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;5563&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_padding=&#8221;no&#8221; content_placement=&#8221;top&#8221; bg_image=&#8221;5968&#8243;][vc_column text_align=&#8221;justify&#8221;][vc_column_text]\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-size: medium; color: #000000;\"> About Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee (NNPPC)<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">PolioPlus Nigeria assists The Rotary Foundation (TRF) in achieving its objectives in polio eradication in accordance with the established policies and goals of the Trustees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>The Committee:<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Assist, obtains and submits to TRF an adequate and enforceable vaccine hold-harmless document from the Ministry of Health.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">Maintains contact with key governmental business and community leaders to advocate the eradication of polio and achievements of the objectives of EPI and to inform them of Rotary\u2019s PolioPlus activities and goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">Prepares a strategic plan for mobilization by the grants, coordinating such plans with other partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">Responds promptly to all International PolioPlus Committee (IPPC) requests for information, reports or advice.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">Serves as spokesperson in the country for the Rotary PolioPlus Programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">Participates in regular meetings of national EPI groups and Interagency Coordinating Committees such as those comprised of Ministry of Health officials, UNICEF and WHO representatives and other supportive, relative or interested organisations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000;\">Plans activities to educate and motivate Rotarians to help mobilise communities for immunization and encourage Rotary clubs to involve other voluntary groups in support of immunization objectives.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"bdt-spacer\" style=\"height: 40px;\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row bg_image=&#8221;5968&#8243;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1821&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;]<div id=\"bdthead_6a24e37363d8e\" class=\"bdt-heading bdt-heading-style-default bdt-heading-align-left\" style=\"\"><h3 class=\"bdt-heading-inner\" style=\"font-size: 24px;line-height: 24px; color: #ffffff;\"><span>Our<\/span> Mission<\/h3><\/div>[vc_column_text]\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">The goal of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative is to complete the eradication and containment of all wild, vaccine-related and Sabin polioviruses, such that no child ever again suffers paralytic poliomyelitis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">GPEI, Launched in 1988 after the World Health Assembly passed a resolution to eradicate polio, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, along with its partners, has helped countries to make huge progress in protecting the global population from this debilitating disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">As a result, the global incidence of polio has decreased by 99.9% since GPEI\u2019s foundation.
