The fight against polio gained renewed momentum as Rotary International PolioPlus Chair, Michael McGovern<\/strong>, and PolioPlus Director, Carol Pandak<\/strong>, visited Nigeria, reaffirming Rotary\u2019s unwavering commitment to a polio-free future.<\/p>\n

Their visit began in Abuja<\/strong>, where they joined the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee (NNPPC)<\/strong> for a high-level Review Meeting<\/strong>. The gathering brought together NNPPC members, District Governors, District Governors-Elect, District Rotaract Representatives-Elect, and other key partners. Discussions centered on recent polio updates, persistent challenges, and strategic recommendations to accelerate eradication efforts.<\/p>\n

“We are making history one strategy, one vaccine, and one child at a time.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"Accompanied by NNPPC Chairman, PDG Joshua Hassan<\/strong>, and Former NNPPC Chair, PDG Tunji Funsho<\/strong>, the delegation traveled to Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State<\/strong> for vital polio advocacy visits<\/strong>. At the Karu Local Government Secretariat, they met with Hon. Ibrahim Bulus<\/strong>, Vice Chairman of the council, to reinforce the importance of political and community support in the fight against polio.<\/p>\n

In the heart of the community, these moments of advocacy transformed into moments of action. At Masaka Primary Health Centre<\/strong>, Carol Pandak lovingly administered the polio vaccine to a zero-dose child<\/strong>\u2014a child receiving the vaccine for the very first time symbolizing hope for a healthier future.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at Mararaba Primary Health Centre<\/strong>, Michael McGovern personally supervised the immunization process and reviewed the health center\u2019s routine immunization records, ensuring that every child is counted and protected. Strong record-keeping, he emphasized, is essential to sustaining a polio-free world.<\/p>\n

One of the most touching moments of the visit came when Michael McGovern himself administered the polio vaccine to a zero-dose baby. In that small act lay a powerful message: every vaccine counts, and every child matters.<\/p>\n
