Today, Rotarians of Rotary International District 9111<\/span><\/span><\/span> came together for a truly engaging, educative, and insightful PolioPlus Seminar, a gathering where passion met knowledge and the shared commitment to a polio-free world grew even stronger.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

PDG Joshua Hassan, Chairman of the Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee (NNPPC), reminded Rotarians of Rotary\u2019s unique and irreplaceable role in the global fight to end polio. Valuable insights were also shared by Miss Tessa Rintala (UNICEF\/NEOC Abuja), who beautifully unpacked the power of Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilization in polio response. Dr. Memuna Esan (WHO Lagos) further enriched participants\u2019 understanding with Polio Facts & Figures and the Reality of Nigeria\u2019s Surveillance System.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Bringing a practical dimension to the discussions, Rotarian Gbenga Olayiwole, NNPPC National Program Coordinator, trained attendees on the use of ODK and encouraged Rotarians to actively step into the field to supervise and support polio outbreak response teams.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
The seminar was also a celebration. District Governor Henry Akinyele inducted new members into the PolioPlus Society, while District PolioPlus Chair PAG Busola Satuyi urged clubs to register their World Polio Day events and continue their generous support for the Polio Fund.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The day ended on a joyful note with a warm-hearted fundraising session, where the highest donor received a charming, customised Polio teddy bear. Congratulations to Rotarian Omotayo Oluwole Abiodun of the Rotary Club of Oto-Ijanikin, whose generous contribution of $120 to PolioPlus set a shining example of service and giving.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In attendance were NNPPC Vice Chair, South West, PDG Yomi Adewunmi, District 9111 United Presidents, Past Assistant District Governors, Rotary Club Polio Chairpersons, and many dedicated Rotarians.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Every word spoken, every lesson learned, and every act of generosity during the seminar brings the world this close to being free from polio.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
